  • Musical Notes and their Naming Convention

  • Key Signatures
  • Dynamic Symbols
  • Solfège (do-re-mi) Musical Scales
  • Music Composition

This module may be utilized by students with very little exposure to music theory as well as those with a strong background in reading music who can use it as a refresher course.  You may choose to review any lesson in any order as you see fit. However, if you prefer to participate in every lesson available, please begin with the first lesson “Taking Note of Music.”  The lessons in order are as follows:

Lesson 1 – Taking Note of Music
Lesson 2 – Unlock The Song
Lesson 3 – It’s About Time
Lesson 4 – Too Loud or Too Soft
Lesson 5 – Roll Over Beethoven

Bonus Activity: Solfège and Kodály

Each section will include a brief assessment to test you on what you have learned.  If you miss too many of the questions, or feel unprepared for any activity, you may re-read any lesson and try again.  Good luck, and have fun exploring the building blocks of music theory!
